I know you find it so hard to really rest – to put aside your projects and your work, and everything that is calling for your time and attention. Even the house-cleaning, the dishes and laundry – certainly all those things needs to be done. But you also need to put it all down – stop your efforts and come to Me and rest. It is a step of obedience to Me to rest. It is one of My 10 commandments – to remember the Sabbath and to keep it holy. I created you to need rest not only a Sabbath rest each week, but your rest and sleep at night.
You cannot keep going without rest, and not just physical rest, but the spiritual rest that you receive when you come to Me with faith in knowing that I will keep you, and protect you, and provide for you, and finish the work that I have begun in your life. I will hold you fast – no matter what battles you may face. So come to Me, lay down your burdens and let Me give you My rest. (Matthew 11:28-30)
