King David asked me to cleanse his heart and his spirit after the prophet Nathan confronted him about his sin in taking the life of Uriah so David could have his wife Bathsheba. (Psalm 51) I know you can easily look at that and think – that’s a pretty big sin! But sin is sin, and the sin of pride and self-righteousness is the worst sin of all. David said that his sin was ever before him – and he so acutely felt and understood how that sin had separated him from My presence. But self-righteousness blinds you to your sinful nature and prevents you from receiving my grace.
Remember that I am close to you when you have a broken, humble and contrite heart. When you see your sin, and you come to me in a spirit of meekness and repentance, I will always cleanse you, wash your spirit, and hold you close to Me. And as far as the east is from the west – so far will I remove your transgressions from you. (Psalm 103:12)
